Oba Festus Awogboro Lauds Ahmadiyya Jama’at as Nigeria’s Outstanding Muslim Organisation

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria has been described as the most successful and exemplary faith-based Muslim organisation in the country.

This commendation was given by the Baabokun of Ibokun, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kayode Festus Awogboro, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Nigeria, led by the Amir (National Head), Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, to his palace on Saturday, 17 January 2025.

The monarch, who disclosed that he had the privilege of meeting the Supreme Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community during the 2024 International Convention held in the United Kingdom, praised the Jama’at for its remarkable achievements both in Nigeria and globally. He particularly highlighted the organisation’s dedication to the propagation of the core tenets of Islam, peacebuilding initiatives, selfless humanitarian services, promotion of quality education, and the advocacy of peaceful coexistence among adherents of different faiths.

“Without mincing words, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the best Muslim organisation in the country. Please quote me anywhere,” Oba Awogboro declared.

He further stated: “I have made comparisons and concluded that Ahmadi Muslims stand out in Nigeria in the areas of peaceful propagation of Islamic teachings, hospitality, and humanitarian services, among other laudable acts of selfless service. I attended the Jama’at’s international conference in London, where the Supreme Head spoke extensively on pathways to peaceful coexistence. Despite the mammoth crowd in attendance, every participant was attended to in a unique way.”

The traditional ruler also expressed appreciation for the spiritual and developmental contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to Ibokunland, particularly noting the establishment of a modern market and the divine support received toward the construction of the new palace.

In his closing remarks, Oba Awogboro appealed to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to consider establishing educational institutions in Ibokun to further enhance access to quality education for the indigenes

For more than one hundred years the Ahmadiyya Muslim community has been leading a peaceful revival of Islam. From the time it was founded in India in 1889 it has enjoyed an unrivalled record for peace and for its efforts to build cohesive societies.
