Amir AMJN Condoles with Ikirunland Over the Loss of Its Eminent Sons

The Amir (National Head) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria Alh.(Barr.) Alatoye Folorunso Azeez paid condolence visits to the Akirun-in Council and families of late eminent personalities in Ikirun who passed away recently. The families visited are those of late Prince Ismaila Adeyemi, Alhaji Gasali Lawal, DIG (Rtd.), and the late Chief Imam of Ikirun land Alhaj. Yunus Ibrahim Balogun.

While Prince Adeyemi, the Medical Director of Cristal Hospital, Akowonjo, Lagos, was a renowned medical practitioner based in Lagos, Alhaj. Lawal retired as Deputy Inspector General of Police and served as the Asiwaju of Ikirun until his death, and Alhaj Balogun, a prominent Islamic scholar, was the Grand Chief Imam of Ikirun until his death.

The news of the death of Dr Adeyemi broke first on Wednesday 7th January and was followed by that of Alh Lawal on Saturday 10th January, while that of Sheik Balogun filtered on Monday 12th January, 2026.

While commiserating with the Akirun-in-council, the Respected Amir described the deceased as great heroes of Ikirun Land whose significant contributions have positively impacted the current status of Ikirun. He also commended the efforts of these great leaders towards the success of Minaret University Ikirun, a new faith-based university established by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

At the home of late Prince Adeyemi, Barrister Alatoye noted: “The late icon of Ikirunland was specifically instrumental to the proposal of acquisition of an additional 100 Acres of land for the Minaret University Ikirun, and was very supportive to the actualization of the project till his last breath”.

At the Late Lawal residence, the Amir stated: “he was indeed a great personality and huge supporter of the Minaret University project, as he always looked forward to the commencement of academic activities in the university. He was also always at the forefront of securing the facilities at the University premises.”

And while at the family house of Late Chief Imam, the Amir said: “The late Chief Imam was a role model to all in terms of brokering peace among warring parties. He was a man of honor and integrity whose efforts contributed immensely to the success story of MUI today.”

Among the entourage of the Amir are: the Missionary Incharge AMJN Maulana Adnan Tahir; former Amir AMJN Prof. Mashhud Adenrele Fashola; the General Secretary AMJN Alh Ayelagbe Abdul Jabar and the Vice-Chancellor of Minaret University Prof. AbdurRahman Abdullah.

For more than one hundred years the Ahmadiyya Muslim community has been leading a peaceful revival of Islam. From the time it was founded in India in 1889 it has enjoyed an unrivalled record for peace and for its efforts to build cohesive societies.
