The nineteen individuals who participated in a 2-day training on New Media, at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria (AMJN) headquarters, Ojokoro, Lagos, South-west, Nigeria were full of praise for the leadership of the organization, defining a new direction of publishing online for the Truth Newspaper. Established in 1951.
Each of the participants, drawn from different walks of life, who spoke with our correspondent at the end of the program expressed happiness recanting their experiences.
Of specific advantage is the fact that the program exposed them to the variety of human capabilities, consciousness for opportunities for role-play, emergence of entrepreneurship in Online Publishing among others.
The Convener of the program, Dr Qasim Akinreti, who equally stood in for the National President (Amir Sahib) AMJN, Dr. Mash’hud Adenrele Fashola while interacting with the participants listed the expectation from the training.
“AMJN is set to engage capable hands for volunteers for ‘The Truth newspaper’ and enlisting the media team into a chapel of the Lagos state Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ “.
He therefore charged each one of the participants to take ‘The Truth newspaper’ to the enviable position of the early days of the newspaper when Maulana Naseem Saifi was in the driver’s seat.
One of the resource persons, Mr Jumu’ah Abiodun, inspired the participants with series of his works as he took them on New Media techniques. Abiodun who is a media expert started the lecture by relating his experience as a journalist.
Earlier, an ECOWAS Media Consultant, Mr Adiamoh AbdulGaniyy, took the participants on a 2 hours training on page planning.
An Accounting Consultant, Mr Ismail Adegbola firm, encouraged participants to embrace the new communication marketing methods. To him, Nigerian prints are terribly deficient for the teeming populace.
