2019 EIDUL ADHA MESSAGE: MUSLIMS URGED TO EMBRACE PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

0

As Muslims globally celebrate the 2019 Eidul Adha, the Amir (National Head) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria Barrister AbdulAzeez Folorunso Alatoye has made a clarion call to the faithfuls to embrace harmonious and peaceful coexistence within the society.

In a release signed by the Amir and made available to The Truth correspondent today, Barr. Alatoye urged Muslims to be the pacesetters and role models in ensuring a hitch-free and peaceful environment.

His words: “The citizens are hereby reminded that we can all make the desired progress only in the atmosphere of peaceful coexistence. No progress is ever recorded where there is restiveness, war, acrimony, turbulence, and upheaval. There must be love between all tribes as we equally belong to Allah and a harm done to one is a harm done to all.”

Uphold principle of justice for all

The Amir equally called on all heads of government ministries, departments, parastatals, and agencies to ensure equal opportunity for all and eschew nepotism, tribalism and favouritism of all kinds in a bid to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.

“It is generally known that one of the harbingers of peaceful coexistence among the peoples and among nation is justice. Justice fosters love and deeper understanding. Justice engenders respect and fellow feelings. Justice prevents anarchy and brigandage. A nation that desires peace must willy-nilly embrace justice and ensure that all its citizenry are made to practice justice. Injustice seems to be the root of all evils,” he stated.

He further urged the government to steer clear of public funds and channel the funds to projects that are beneficial to the masses. He said the government should endeavour to appoint the right people to the right positions, and give youth employment a priority. “The experience the elders have is not brought from the heavens but are acquired here by virtue of the opportunities they had when they were youths. We should assist in shaping their lives and not mortgage it,” Amir cautioned.

Peaceful coexistence will attract foreign investors

According to Barr. Alatoye, foreign investors would have the confidence that their investment is safe when there is peace in the land. “They would be encouraged and willing to bring the much-desired capital to establish industries which would provide jobs for teeming youths,” Amir noted.

He however implored various militant youth groups to desist from kidnapping and vandalization of equipment belonging to the government and foreign investors as these actions may not augur well for the proper uplifting and economic growth of youthful generation.

His Holiness Address on Peaceful coexistence and Justice

The Amir reminded Muslims on the peaceful messages of His Holiness, the Supreme Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and Khalifa of Islam Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (May Allah be his helper) to all leaders of superpowers at different occasions. He said that His Holiness had always implored people to think well of others and not think ill of them. He said this will develop love, unity, and strength among one another.

On justice, Amir said His Holiness has always mandate Muslims to embrace justice even for their enemies. That in the early history of Islam, the principle and all the demands of justice were fulfilled.

His words: “I convey the messages of His Holiness to Nigerians and request that we all hearken to the voice of reasoning and allow peace and justice to reign as Allah is of both principles and not of violence and inequality.”

Lessons of Eidul Adha

The basic teachings of Eidul Adha, according to the Amir are sincerity, dedication and righteousness as displayed by Prophet Ibrahim and his family. He said: “We are expected to tailor our lives along the paths treaded by Prophet Ibrahim, on whom be peace. He was ever reliant on Almighty Allah. He was ever ready to sacrifice the most coveted of his belongings to please his creator, so we are expected to be ready to sacrifice our worthiest asset to Almighty God. We cannot be grateful enough for Allah’s mercy and kindness on us all.”

Advice for All

Amir reiterates: “Let the haves care and cater for the have nots. Let the superiors be merciful to the subordinates. Let the elderly be tolerant of the youth. Let the youths respect the elders. Let the civil servants not be removed from offices abruptly. Let everyone feel secured of their future so as to eradicate corruption. Let the government fulfill the needs and yearnings of the masses and let the masses discharge their duties to the government honestly and remain obedient and law-abiding.”

Hajj Travel: Mecca to Medina now two hours

0
By Qasim Akinreti

Travel time for Muslim pilgrim from Makkah to Madinah is now two hours only as high-speed train was made available for the first time to pilgrims on Hajj pilgrimage. Before 2019, a road trip between the holy cities of Medina and Mecca can take as long as 10 hours during Hajj.

According to the CNN report, millions of pilgrims rode on Haramain High-Speed Rail (HHR), linking Makkah to Madinah and passing through three stations, Jeddah, King Abdul Aziz International Airport and King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh.

The trains travel at 300 kilometers per hour (186 miles per hour) on electrified rails. The technology is designed to handle temperatures up to 50°C (122°F), Saudi Arabia’s maximum temperature, according to the HHR website.

There are 35 trains, each with 13 cars and 417 seats in two classes, business, and economy. The high-speed rail line has a capacity of 60 million passengers a year.

Quoting the rail line website, the railway was launched in October 2018, after the Hajj death from the stampede. In 2018, 2.37 million Muslims made the journey to Mecca.

The pilgrimage, which began on Friday, lasts five days. It is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim is required to perform the Hajj at least once in their lifetime if they are physically and financially able.

Over 668,000 People Join Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

53rd Jalsa Salana UK concludes with an inspirational address by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad recently concluded the 53rd Annual International Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community with an inspirational address in the UK.

More than 39,800 people from 115 countries attended the Jalsa Salana, which took place at Hadeeqatul Mahdi in Alton, Hampshire.

Apart from the thousands of Ahmadi Muslims who participated, many non-Ahmadi and non-Muslim guests also attended.  The entire event was broadcast live on MTA International and streamed online.

A highlight of the three-day Jalsa Salana was the pledge of allegiance, known as Bai’at, that took place on Sunday afternoon, where the participants pledged allegiance to Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad as the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph) of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him).

The participants formed a human chain leading to the Khalifa as they repeated the words of the pledge in unison.

Prior to the ceremony, His Holiness announced that more than 668,500 people had joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community during the past year from all around the world.

His Holiness further announced that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was now established in 213 countries. This year the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was established in Armenia for the first time.

During the address, His Holiness spoke of how Islam in particular, and religion more generally, was being vehemently criticised in the modern world. In light of this, His Holiness powerfully defended Islam’s teachings and highlighted Islam’s superiority to other social systems and spoke of the Holy Quran’s teachings on defending the human rights of all people.

His Holiness said that it was commonly alleged that religion was out-dated and incompatible with the modern world and hence religious teachings should be changed in order to suit the needs of the new era.

His Holiness said that whilst some other religions are debating whether their religious teachings need to be reformed to suit the modern era, Islamic teachings were timeless and universal and the Holy Quran is, and always will be, the most comprehensive book sufficient for all times and all places.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“We firmly believe that the Holy Quran is the book of Allah the Almighty, and He has promised to safeguard it. Other religions no longer have their original teachings, however the Holy Quran’s teachings have not changed for over 1400 years and will remain so until the Last Day. The teaching of the Holy Quran is everlasting and is for people of all eras.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:

“In this era, by sending the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him), Allah the Almighty has further safeguarded the teachings of the Holy Quran. The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) expounded upon the teachings of the Holy Quran and revealed its hidden treasures. He demonstrated that the Holy Quran caters for the need of all aspects of human interactions; from social relations between individuals and societies to international relations between world nations. It expounds upon spirituality whilst at the same time it reveals great academic and scientific truths. It comprehensively lays out the rights of God and the rights of God’s creation. Therefore, there is no need to be affected by the objections of critics and we should never be under any complex about the Holy Quran.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad further stated:

“The Holy Quran caters for even the most seemingly insignificant needs of human beings. The Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) established our rights for us and these are the rights that can guarantee peace at all levels of society.”

His Holiness went on to cite the rights and obligations as laid out by the Holy Quran that its followers must fulfil, including the rights owed to parents, elders, children, neighbours, spouses and all creation of God.

His Holiness illustrated the comprehensive nature of the Holy Quran by narrating a verse of the Holy Quran. Chapter 4 verse 37of the Holy Quran speaks in detail of the rights established by God Almighty.

The aforementioned verse of the Holy Quran states:

“And worship Allah and associate naught with Him, and show kindness to parents, and to kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbour that is a kinsman and the neighbour that is a stranger, and the companion by your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess. Surely, Allah loves not the proud and the boastful.”

His Holiness further mentioned that people should think well of others and not think ill of them. Thus, by doing so, they would develop love, unity and strength amongst each other.

His Holiness mentioned that, sadly, it was increasingly common to fail to show affection and basic human sympathy in today’s materialistic world.  If someone is left hungry, they do not care for them, or if someone has financial issues, they do not spend their own wealth to cover the shortcomings of the other.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad mentioned that whilst non-religious people make allegations against religion and Islam in particular, a recent survey showed how charity is donated mostly by religious people and Muslims are amongst those who give to charity the most.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“When one works for Allah and helps his weak, less fortunate brothers, his faith is increased. The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) said that if man does not help others, he gradually becomes like animals in his morals whereby he cares not for others. The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) said, ‘A person’s humanity demands it of him, and he is only a human, if he is kind towards all humanity without discrimination.’ The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) also said, ‘never, under any circumstance, constrict the circle of your kindness.’”

His Holiness went on to narrate verses of the Holy Quran that outline how Islam makes it incumbent upon its followers to fulfil the rights of all sections of society.

On the rights owed to one’s parents, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad quoted chapter 17 verse 24 of the Holy Quran which commands Muslims to show absolute kindness and even instructs to “never say unto them any word expressive of disgust nor reproach them, but address them with excellent speech.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad further said:

“Those who claim to be proponents of human rights today are in fact creating greater distances between parents and their children. If parents caution their children or try and correct their morals, certain organisations turn up in objection to the parents and begin to interrogate them. People are becoming agitated and are now objecting to this.”

His Holiness stressed that the Holy Quran is a comprehensive book and stated that the Holy Quran and the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings be upon him) had not stopped at the rights of parents, rather they also stipulated the rights of the child.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded believers to respect their children and to give them a good upbringing. He also said that the best gift a father can give his children is to grant them a good upbringing.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:

“The Holy Prophet(peace and blessings be upon him) upheld the rights of even the children of one’s most ardent enemies. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)vehemently reprimanded an army that had targeted children… Yet today there are governments who claim Islam to be cruel and unjust who are separating parents from their children in the most inhumane way and they consider their own action to be just and moral.”

His Holiness then went on to elaborate upon Islam’s teachings on matrimonial matters and explained that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) stressed the rights of women so much that he said, ‘the best amongst you is he who is best toward his wife and I am the best towards my wife.’

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Those who talk of human rights in the developed world themselves do not fulfil the rights of their wives and are unjust towards them. There is a widespread problem of extramarital affairs and the divorce rates in the developed world are very high.”

His Holiness voiced the rights the Holy Quran laid out for siblings and relatives and for mankind in general.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“The Holy Prophet(peace and blessings be upon him) commanded Muslims against harbouring prejudice or hate between one another and said that it is unlawful for a believer to cease speaking to another believer for more than three days.”

His Holiness drew the attention of the attendees towards the rights of widows, the elderly, employees and many others, all of whom have their rights upheld and explained by Islam in great detail and intricacy.

His Holiness highlighted that he could only mention a small number of the rights that the Holy Quran has upheld and there are countless others which could not be discussed in a short period.

During the course of the Jalsa Salana, His Holiness delivered five addresses, including an annual report of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Various other lectures and speeches were delivered during the course of the three days. Further, various exhibitions were displayed such as ‘Islam in the Media’, the ‘Shroud of Turin’ exhibition and exhibitions on the historic letters of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent to world leaders.

The Jalsa Salana concluded with a silent prayer led by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

The Hajj Today: Can the Muslim World Make Sociological Sense of the Global Assembly?

0

It is the dawn of the Islamic sacred month of Hajj and, as usual, hundreds of thousands of Muslims are already converging on Islam’s holiest city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj (pilgrimage) operations.

Again, in the next few days, the pilgrims will join processions of over  two million people and perform a series of Hajj rites: they will circumambulate (Tawaf) the Ka’ba seven times, run (Sa’y) back and forth between the hills of Safa and Marwah, drink from the Zamzam Well, go to Mina, and further, to the plains of Mount Arafat to stand in vigil, spend a night in the plain of Muzdalifa, and perform symbolic stoning of the devil by throwing stones at three pillars. After the sacrifice of their animal, they will shave their heads. Then they will celebrate the three-day global festival of Eid al-Adha. Returning to Mecca, they will perform the farewell circumambulation of the Ka’ba.

It is equally going to be a festive period for the rest of the over 1.8 billion Muslims at home across the world, as they will slaughter millions of sacrificial animals and join in the merriness of the Eid-el-Kabir (the Great Festival), as it is popularly called. Now, all this observed, the Hajj, the Festival and all the rest will be over. And, as the remnant of the meats is consumed and pots and plates washed, the festive mood would be mellowed down with the usual supplication: may the Almighty Allah spare our lives to witness another of such festivities in the coming years!

The Big Challenge

More pertinently, however, any sober reflection on the current tumultuous time which the contemporary global Muslim world (ummah) is passing through should provoke the thought and concern of the entire global Muslim leaders and intelligentsia on the primacy of making more, pragmatic sociological sense of the Hajj. No doubt,  in a holy month the sacredness of which is being profaned by the sacrileges of the ongoing Saudi-Yemen war, the protracted Syrian war, the atrocities of Boko Haram insurgents in Nigeria and the bombings and carnages across the rest Muslim countries etc., it is high time the global Muslim world begins to explore and exploit the sociological opportunities and benefits offered by Hajj to solve and resolve myriad of challenges confronting it; rather than the usual superficialities of the annual practice of the State sponsoring individuals for the Pilgrimage to Mecca, or the ostentatious fixing of ‘Hajj tooth’ by the merry-making tourist-pilgrims!

Disturbingly, if, about 40 years ago, the Palestinian-American Professor of Islamic Studies, Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi (1982) had lamented that the crisis-stricken 20th Century Muslim “world ummah of Islam is undeniably the most unhappy ummah in the world in modern times,” for the reason that, “Despite the fact that it is the largest in number, the richest inland and resource, the greatest in legacy and the only one possessing the most viable ideology, the ummah is a very weak constituent of world order. It is fragmented into an endless variety of states, divided against itself, at loggerheads with other ummahs on all its frontiers,” we in the contemporary time cannot deny the fact that the narrative in the Muslim Ummah of the 21st Century has not fared better still. Rather, from the deepening feud and xenophobic tendencies between Saudi Arabia and Iran and their respective allies, to the diplomatic crises among the Gulf States and their political allies, and the instances of divisive and deadly inter-sectarian crises and clashes within various Muslim communities across the world, we see a Muslim world that has continued to be increasingly bedevilled by the escalating spate of division, disharmony, hostility, and the collapse of Islamic brotherhood, solidarity and diplomatic relations.

True, with the instances of the scourge of state-sponsored political and religious persecutions, intra and inter-state wars and conflicts, intra-religious theological skirmishes and sectarian ideological conflicts and state-/group-sponsored terrorism trending across Muslim nations and communities, ours is a time where political disorder and upheavals, economic crisis, social unrest, poverty, diseases, and human rights abuses have become the commonwealth that is wreaking havoc upon the Muslim world, deepening the lack of peace, security, and development of a people who claim to believe in the religion of peace and Hajj! From reformist Salafism to Wahhabism, then to neo-Salafism, Takfiri-Jihadism, and radical Islamism, etc., we see ominous trends of Islamomania – Islamists’ fanatical, radical and extremist expression of Islam – destroying the fabrics of Muslims’ organic existence from the Middle East region, to the global world beyond.

Sociological Utility of the Hajj

From a utilitarian perspective, the Holy Quran aptly spells out the sociological utility of the Hajj to the Muslim world when it declares:  “And proclaim unto mankind the Pilgrimage. They will come to thee on foot, and on every lean camel, coming by every distant track, that they may witness its benefits for them and may mention the Name of Allah, during the appointed days…..” (Quran, Surah al-Hajj, 22:28-29)

As far back as the 1940s, the Second Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim community, Hadhrat Mirza Bashirud-din Mahmud Ahmad (ra), in his characteristic insight and foresight, succinctly enlightened the Muslim world about the sociological importance of the Islamic Pilgrimage. He declared in his commentary on the foregoing Quranic verses thus:

“Hajj provides pilgrims of different lands and diverse nationalities with an excellent opportunity to cultivate an acquaintance with one another and discuss matters of common interest”. “Apart from the spiritual good that the pilgrimage does to a Muslim, it possesses great social and political significance. It has great potentialities for welding different Muslim countries into one strong international brotherhood of Islam. Muslims from all parts of the world who meet at Mecca once a year can exchange views on all sorts of matters of international importance, renew old and establish new contacts. They have opportunities to acquaint themselves with the problems that confront their brethren in Faith in other countries, to copy one another’s good points and profit by one another experience and also co-operate with one another in many other ways. Mecca being God’s appointed center of Islam, the Pilgrimage can serve as a sort of United Nations Organisation for the whole Muslim world. All other religions have failed to produce such a forum for the exchange of international ideas and programmes. But it is regretted that Muslims have not yet awakened to the realization of Mecca being an international capital for the whole Muslim world. These are some of the material benefits and advantages to which reference has been made in the words, ‘that they may witness its benefits;’ and the words ‘and mention the Name of Allah,’ refer to the great spiritual benefits which Muslim can and should derive from the Pilgrimage to Mecca.”

What an expressive, eye-opening and scintillating demystification of the sociology of Hajj uncovered by this divine voice articulate! Again, what a pragmatic idealization of the essence of the annual Islamic global assembly, if only it can be transformed into reality!

Can the Current Mainstream Muslim World Movements and Leaders Walk the Talk?

To answer the above question in the affirmative would require we must have had on ground a divinely established leadership of a global stature within the mainstream Muslim world that would envision, initiate, mobilize, facilitate and coordinate such organization and cooperation for global reform, unification, integration, solidarization, fraternization for the peace and development of the Muslim peoples, countries and sects.   Unfortunately, however, with the present scenario of things, it is not certain that the contemporary Muslim political and religious leaders are capable of making such a sociological sense of the Hajj to address the challenges facing the global Muslim world.

How can they be able to make it when, even, since the foundation in 1945 of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt; in 1949 of the Islamic World Congress in Karachi, India; in 1962 of the World Muslim League in Mecca, Saudi Arabia; and in 1970 of the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as an umbrella organization for Islamic governments, none of these organizations has so far been able to resolve recurring Muslims’ global socio-political and religious issues and integrate, unite and solidarize the Muslim countries, sects and peoples?

More so, can the present crops of leaders of the Muslim world make any difference? The answer is equally an emphatic no. The world cannot possibly quickly forget how, following the September 2015 stampede and crush of pilgrims resulted in the death of at least 2,426 people, according to an Associated Press count, many news outlets like Reuters, Middle East online and Rabwah Times among others, reported on Tuesday, 6th September, 2016, an emotionally charged public pronouncement credited to the Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah ‘Ali Khamenei, in which he ‘slammed Saudi Arabia for poorly managing the hajj pilgrimage, saying the country virtually “murdered” the Muslims who perished in last year’s stampede.  He also accused the Saudis, whom he called “small and puny satans,” of “treason” for failing to provide sufficient security for the hajj, saying “they had been too busy catering to the United States to arrange it.” “Saudi rulers… are disgraced and misguided people. [They] tremble for fear of jeopardizing the interests of the Great Satan, the US,” Rabwah Times further reported the Iranian Leader as proposing that “Because of Saudi rulers’ oppressive behavior towards God’s guests, the world of Islam must fundamentally reconsider the management of the two holy places and the issue of hajj…”

Expectedly, this was then greeted with a sharp reaction from the then Saudi Arabia’s crown prince and interior minister, Mohammad bin Nayef who, in a report filed by Saudi state news agency SPA, was quoted as saying that ‘Iran was merely trying to “politicize” the hajj, while warning that the agitation could compromise the safety of pilgrims. Adding that, “The Iranian authorities don’t want the Iranian pilgrims to come here for reasons concerning the Iranians themselves.” More inflammatory was the response from the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdul-Azeez Ali al-Sheikh, that: ‘Iranians are not Muslims; they are children of Magi and their hostility towards Muslims is an old one.’

Any Ray of Hope?

However, any objective observer can notice a potential catalyst in the relevant leadership directions emerging from the successive Supreme Heads of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, particularly, the Third Khalifah, Hadhrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad (may Allah have mercy upon him). In a series of Friday sermons delivered by him in 1967, he enlightened the world about the twenty-three great objectives behind the building of the Ka’ba, enunciated in seven verses of Surahs Al-Baqarah and Ali Imran, the 2nd and 3rd Chapters of the Holy Quran. Because of the scholastic originality and analytical precision that characterize the exposition, no modern student and scholar of Islamic religion should fail to research the profound sermons now published in book form – Twenty Three Great Objectives of Building the House of Allah – by Islam International Publications Ltd, UK, and accessible via alislam.org – the official website of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

In sum, he situated the Ka’ba as not only symbolizing the unity of God, but also the center for the unification of the Muslim peoples in particular, and humanity, in general; while the annual Pilgrimage to it serves as the collective journey by the Muslim world towards the common direction of actualizing the unity and solidarity of the global human family. Furthermore, having outlined the blueprint for the actualization of this divine agenda, he emphatically declared that it would be ultimately championed by the leadership role and concerted effort and sacrifice of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Unfortunately, however, barely seven years after this manifesto, in 1974, the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has officially declared a non-Muslim organization and its members were banned from performing the Hajj by no other Muslim countries than Pakistan and Saudi Arabia! This reminds one of how the Holy Founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (saw) himself was once banned from performing Hajj by the non-Muslim forces in the early history of Islam.

Importantly, however, while the Community has continued to maintain non-violent, peaceful resistance to this anti-Islamic law, with the current Supreme worldwide Head of Ahmadiyya, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad’s (aba) peaceful outreach to the leaders of the Muslim and Western countries and the increasing global presence and influence that are being felt, a genuine wave of euphoria is beginning to surge within the collective mind of many Muslims that, through the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Muslim world may, sooner than later, eventually realize the divinely promised global unification of humanity under the banner of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his Islamic religion.

AMIR LAYS MOSQUE FOUNDATION TO KICK-START NEW ADMINISTRATION

0

Wednesday 10th July 2019 no doubt, was a remarkable day in the history of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria as the Amir (National Head) Alhaji (Barr.) AbdulAzeez Folorunso Alatoye laid a mosque foundation at Oke-Ore, Owode Branch during what could be termed his first official duty since his assumption of office on 1st July, 2019.

The Amir, while giving his address, thanked the donor of the land and commended the Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria (Elders’ Wing) whose efforts in Tabligh (Preaching) expedition resulted to the acquisition of the land, adding that only the God Almighty could reward those who contributed to the project.

He urged all members to improve on their financial, spiritual and physical sacrifices towards mosque projects such that the Jama’at will have adequate mosque facilities for all new converts.

In his words: “One of the fundamental issues in the Jama’at is the provision of mosques that can serve our new converts.  It is grossly inadequate.  Hence, there is a need for us to improve on our sacrifices, both physically and financially.  We all have a role to play in constructing mosques for the Jama’at.”

“In the past, within the Jama’at, we hardly pay for labour.  We only pay for experts while the Jama’at members provide all materials needed for a particular project.  Dignity of labour (Wakar-e-Amal) must be resuscitated.  Let us all contribute and donate generously to the progress of the Jama’at,” Amir advised.

Obedience to the Institution of Khilafat:

Barrister Alatoye emphasized on the need for all members of the Jama’at to submit themselves fully to the institution of Khalifat and obey all the instructions of His Holiness.  He believed there will be serious retrogression if we do otherwise.

“Where there is obedience, progress is certain. Before we can make any meaningful progress, we need to follow the instructions of Allah.  Members in a mosque must obey Allah, His commandments and constituted authority starting from the instructions of Huzur Anwar(atba).  We must obey the Khilafat with all humility and in its entirety. Obedience is very key to our development. The Amir further appealed to members not to relent in Tabligh expeditions.

More Converts Joined the Jama’ats:

Another highlight of the programme was the winning of more converts into the fold of Ahmadiyya Community.  It was reported that more people had earlier joined the Jama’at through the Tabligh exercise organised by the Majlis Ansarullah Nigeria while some others in the area filled the Baiat (initiation) forms at the event.

Amir congratulated the new converts and urged them to always fear Allah alone and be steadfast while worshipping God the Almighty.

Former Amir Commended:

The Sadr (leader) of Majlis Ansarullah, Engr. Abdul-Waheed Adeoye commended the critical role the former Amir, Dr. Mashhud Fashola, played towards the success of the project.

He stated that the auxiliary body had a similar project to implement at Ibogun side in Epe Area where there are 28 converts already.  He stressed that the aim of the mosque building was to ensure that the Jama’at functions effectively after gaining Baiats.

Brief Background of the Land:

Coordinator of Majlis Ansarullah activities in Owode Region, Mr. Surajudeen Mustapha who was the architect of the land acquisition recalled how he used his good office as a Certified Surveyor to convince one of his clients, Chief (Mrs.) Hassanat Amusan to donate a portion of her land, measuring 110 by 65ft few years back for the building of a mosque.  He added that the agreement on the land had already been prepared and ready for signing by both parties.

Owode branch President, Alhaj Ajibade commended the efforts of the surveyor and promised that the branch will continue to improve on its preaching activities in a bid to win more souls.

Courtesy Call on the Chief Imam:

The Amir and his team later paid courtesy visit to the Chief Imam of Oke-Ore, Alhaji Nasirudeen Raji Adegbite, who was a close friend of the Jama’at in the area.  He thanked the Chief Imam for accommodating Ahmadiyya Community.

He reiterated that Ahmadiyya Community is a peace-loving organization saddled with the reformation of the entire world and selfless service to humanity.

Dignitaries present at the event include Maulvi Nadeem Waseem; Naib Sadr (Admin.) MAAN, Alhaji Dauda Raji; Naib Sadr Saf Dom, Mr. Abdul-Waheed Towolawi; Coordinator of Missionaries’ activities for Owode & Ota, Mr. Taoheed Ola. The Ubiquity of Hypocrisy

0

The world of men is filled with men of words
Words of saints they speak
Speak to them and see if you will not feel like a sinner
Sinner first in your own eyes and then to humankind

Humankind has mastered the art of deceit
Deceit through righteousness in the eyes of all
All pretending to one another, masking their true self
Selfless to a select few and selfish to many more

More and more, the fabric of hypocrisy is widely worn
Worn by those you least expect and those you truly respect
Respect is a currency of insincerity, spent with caution as though it will finish from regular use
Use people before they use you and make you useless

Uselessly, we hanker after paltry gains that we will leave behind
Behind to those who have no idea of how we laboured for the riches
The riches we earned by mastery of impunity
Impunity hinged by hypocrisy
Hypocrisy girded by dishonesty
Dishonesty fueled by small-mindedness

Small minds lie
Lie – the craft they think will make them fly high
High in the eyes of men but low in God’s presence
The presence that makes all else immaterial
Immaterial to all those you lied to, lied for, lied about and to you

You are righteous to people in your faith
Faithful only to your friends
Friendly only to those from whom you seek benefits
Benefitting from being ruthless to others
Others of different skin, ethnicity, religion, gender, status, and education

Education should cure you of hypocrisy because
Hypocrisy is from within where education makes the transformation
The transformation that tells you life is a transition
Transition in space and time
Time to meet and part, time to exist and extinct, time to be and be no more
More to life there’s than just a transactional exchange
The exchange you must! Your house with a coffin or graveyard, your time with eternity, your companions with loneliness…

Loneliness will be the lot of the hypocrite
The hypocrite who smiles from a mile
Whose words of praise have become trite
But whose heart is filled with bile
If you don’t know any hypocrite
It’s probably you don’t know yourself
Be free of hypocrisy
Avoid it as you would leprosy
The hypocrite never finds favour with God and men
Don’t serve me hypocrisy… it’s dirty and creepy!

NEW AMIR SOLICITS TEAMWORK, SINCERE DEDICATION

0

The new Amir (National Head) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria Alhaji AbdulAzeez Folorunso Alatoye has called for unalloyed teamwork, rededication and overwhelming support of the National Executive officers and members of the Muslim organization in an effort to achieve a successful and hitch free administration.

Alhaji Alatoye who resumes office on Monday 1st July 2019 made the call at the handing over ceremony held at the National Headquarters of the organization in Ojokoro, Lagos.

It would be recalled that the Supreme Head of Ahmadiyya Community worldwide appointed Barrister Alatoye after the last shoora to succeed Dr. Mashhud Adenrele Fashola who had been at the helms of affairs for 15years.

General Secretary Ahmadiyya Nigeria, Alhaji Abbas Iromini; Amir Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama ‘at Nigeria, Dr. Mashhud Adenrele and Missionary-in-Charge, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Murabbi Afzaal Ahmad Rauf, during the Amila meeting, at Ahmadiyya Headquarters Ojokoro, Lagos on Saturday 2019.

In his speech, the new Amir who is a lawyer and tax consultant by profession opined that his administration will consolidate on the achievements and legacies of the immediate past regime and improved on them. This, he said, can only be achieved through total commitment and cooperation of all members.

He thanked the former Amir for giving him the opportunity to have served in the capacity of Naib Amir (Deputy Head) for years and believed the system and administration of the organization is a continuum.

The Amir, therefore, urged the incoming national executive members to be ready for the enormous task ahead.

According to him, “ I have to commend Dr. Fashola for successfully steering the ship of the Ahmadiyya community in Nigeria for 15years. I have known him to be a strong individual and a spiritual person who is also energetic. The Jamaat is always proud of him in all respect. No doubt, the position of the Amir is an enormous task. The head can only succeed with the collective support of everyone. The system of the organization is a continuity,” he concluded.

He noted that “ mindset is how do we improve on what we are doing now. If you pick any concept, there would be many approaches to that concept. We need to reposition ourselves. I will also request that we reduce arguments on issues and most importantly, refer ambiguous issues to the spiritual Head of the Ahmadiyya community and His Holiness for guidance and clarification. We must implement all the instructions of Huzur Aqdas (May Allah be his Helper), the Amir counseled.

In his speech, Dr. Fashola said the Muslim organization was in safe hands with the new Amir and promised to give his full support for a successful regime. ” Alhaji Alatoye is a blessed person by all standards. He is a man of discipline, a man of God and a prayer warrior. He has all the qualities and attributes of a good leader. I will give him all the support needed because he also supported me a lot,” he said.

SHOCKING REVELATION ABOUT VITAMINS AND MINERALS DEFICIENCY

0

According to UNICEF’s Global Damage Assessment Report, one-third of the world’s population suffer from vitamins and minerals deficiencies leading to debilitating bodies, minds, energies, and economic prospects of nations. In fact, UNICEF’s Executive Director, Carol Bellamy, warned that:

“It is no longer a question of treating severe deficiency in individuals. It is a question of reaching out to whole populations to protect them against the devastating consequences of even moderate forms of vitamin and mineral deficiency.”

What the above means for the world is the impairment of millions of growing young minds and dangerous reduction in national IQs.

If you thought vitamin and mineral deficiencies were a thing of the past, think again. Here are some statistics that you may be very shocked to learn:

  • * Over 250,000 children are born annually with birth defects associated with vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
  • * More than 50,000 women die every year during childbirth due to a deficiency of some sort.
  • * It’s estimated that 10-15% of people over 60 years of age don’t get enough vitamin B12, which raises their risk of heart disease, makes them bleed easily and causes difficulty walking.
  • * 40-60% of children ages 6-24 months in developing countries don’t get enough iron, which impairs them mentally.
  • * Approximately 1 million children under the age of 5 die every year because they don’t have enough vitamin A in their system.

Surprised? A lot of people are.

It’s easy to believe that deficiencies were something that happened long ago when food wasn’t as prevalent as it is now. People would have only what they harvested or hunted right then. They didn’t have the ability to process foods and make them last as we can today. That often meant that their diets didn’t contain a wide variety of food so certain vitamins and minerals would, of course, be missing. But, today there’s food on almost every corner, so how is it that we’re deficient in anything?

Well, deficiencies go beyond just the foods you eat. There are certain behaviors or conditions that can put you at risk for not absorbing enough vitamins and minerals. Here are just a few:

  1. If you smoke, you have a higher risk of developing a vitamin C deficiency.
  2. If you are pregnant and not taking prenatal vitamins, you have an increased risk of a folate deficiency.
  3. If you’re an alcoholic or drink a lot regularly, you risk being deficient in folate, vitamin C and vitamin A.
  4. If you take anti-seizure medications or are being treated for cancer, you may not have enough folate.
  5. If you have a disease related to your intestinal tractor take a lot of antacids, you have a higher likelihood of being deficient in vitamin B12.
  6. And, if you take medications for type 2 diabetes or have an autoimmune disorder, you may also lack the necessary amount of vitamin B12.

The list goes on and on. Some people even develop deficiencies in the name of health! For example, some diets promote excessively limiting or even eliminating whole groups of food to help you lose weight. The cabbage soup diet is one of them.

That’s where you can eat nothing but cabbage soup all day, every day. While most people aren’t on those types of eating plans for any length of time, if it’s a way of eating you consistently go back to, you may be increasing your odds of developing a deficiency.

Probably one of the most common ways of eating that eliminates certain food groups is vegetarianism. In the name of health, spiritual belief or animal rights, vegetarians vow to not eat certain things.

There are several diverse types of vegetarians. For instance, a vegan is someone who doesn’t eat any kind of food that used animal products as an ingredient or even in the processing phase. They don’t eat eggs, dairy or honey.

If someone is a lacto-ovo-vegetarian, that means that they don’t eat meat or shellfish, but they do eat eggs and dairy; that’s the general vegetarianism. Pescatarians don’t eat meat like lamb or pork, but they will eat fish.

While each form of eating has certain health benefits, they also have higher risks of deficiencies because they’re cutting out categories of food that are high in vitamins and minerals.

Red meat has a high amount of iron, zinc and riboflavin. So, if you remove these foods from your diet, you risk not getting enough of these important minerals in your body. Milk and dairy products are extremely high in calcium and vitamin D. Cut those out, and you must find other ways for your body to get it.

The point is that you could be doing things that are putting you at risk and not even realize it. And, if you think that because you’re taking a multivitamin you aren’t at risk, you’re sadly mistaken.

Unfortunately, your body doesn’t always process the multivitamins well enough to get everything out of them and use it. For example, if you take them on an empty stomach, your body will absorb fewer of the great vitamins and minerals they contain than if you take it with orange juice.

Some people purchase multivitamins that have over 100% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) so that they don’t develop deficiencies, but that doesn’t always work either. For example, vitamins B and C are both water-soluble. That means that they may just be excreted from your body before it’s able to use them.

Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat-soluble. So, if you get too much of them, your body will hold onto them. The good news is that you won’t get a deficiency, but the bad news is that you risk taking them to toxic levels, which is a whole different concern! So, knowing all of this, could you be deficient in some necessary vitamins and minerals?
