Celebrating Qur’anic Excellence: 30 New Huffaaz and Haafidhoot Graduate in Ilaro

Thirty New Huffaaz and Haafidhoot Graduate from Madrasatu Tahfeedhil Qur’an in Ilaro
Ilaro, Ogun State, Nigeria — 19 September 2026: The Madrasatu Tahfeedhil Qur’an in Ilaro, Ogun State, held its 2026 graduation ceremony on Saturday, 19 September 2026, celebrating the successful completion of Qur’anic memorisation by thirty graduands.
The graduands comprised eighteen males from the Male Hifz School and twelve females from the Female Hifz School. The occasion brought together Jama’at executives, parents, teachers, relatives and other distinguished guests to celebrate the achievement of the new Huffaaz and Haafidhoot.
Male Hifz School Graduation
The graduation ceremony of the Male Hifz School was presided over by the Amir and National Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Alhaj Alatoye Folorunsho AbdulAzeez sahib.
A major feature of the programme was the presentation of the annual report of the Male Hifz School by Hafiz AbdulGhani Shobambi sahib. The report highlighted the activities, achievements and progress recorded by the institution during the year.
Addressing the gathering, the Amir congratulated the graduands on their dedication and perseverance in committing the Holy Qur’an to memory. He noted that memorising the entire Holy Qur’an is a demanding undertaking requiring discipline, commitment and continuous effort.
The Amir encouraged the new Huffaaz to remain steadfast in their relationship with the Holy Qur’an and, beyond memorising its verses, to strive to understand and practise its teachings in their daily lives.
The graduands also demonstrated their learning through Qur’anic recitations and other presentations, providing an opportunity for guests to witness the knowledge and skills they had acquired during their period of study.
The Acting Missionary-in-Charge, Maulana Rana Akram, along with other invited guests, addressed the gathering and congratulated the graduands. Their remarks highlighted the responsibilities associated with committing the Holy Qur’an to memory and the importance of reflecting its teachings through conduct and character.
Female Hifz School Graduation
The female graduation ceremony marked the graduation of the 10th set of Haafidhoot from Madrasatul Tahfizhul Qur’an Lil Banat, with twelve young girls successfully completing their memorisation of the Holy Qur’an.
The ceremony was chaired by the Sadr Lajna Imaillah Nigeria, Hajia Suwebat Odeyemi.
In her remarks, the Coordinator of the Female Hifz School, Hajia Naheemah Babalola, expressed gratitude to
Almighty Allah and acknowledged the contributions of parents, teachers and other stakeholders whose support has contributed to the growth and development of the institution.
A lecture titled “From Memorizing the Holy Qur’an to Living It: The Qualities of ‘Ibaadur-Rahman” was delivered by Hajia Rasheeda Raji-Okubena.
In her address, she emphasised that the objective of Qur’anic memorisation extends beyond committing the words of the Holy Qur’an to memory. She stressed the importance of understanding its meaning and translating its teachings into practical conduct, particularly in developing the qualities of the servants of the Most Gracious.
Growing Number of Huffaaz in Nigeria
The graduation further highlighted the continued growth of Qur’anic memorisation within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Nigeria.
With the graduation of the twelve female students, the Female Hifz School has now produced 149 Haafidhoot since its establishment, while the Male Hifz School has produced 415 Huffaaz, bringing the combined number produced by the two Ilaro Hifz Schools to 564.
The contribution to Qur’anic memorisation, however, extends beyond the formal Hifz Schools in Ilaro. As of May 2026, a total of 728 Huffaaz had been produced in Nigeria through the Tahfeedhul Qur’an School in Ilaro and other private Qur’anic memorisation establishments run by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at.
Since that milestone, an additional 102 Huffaaz and Haafidhoot have graduated, bringing the total number of Huffaaz produced through these avenues to 830 as of September 2026.
Certificates, Prizes and Awards
A major highlight of the graduation ceremony was the presentation of certificates, prizes and awards to the graduands and other deserving students in recognition of their dedication and performance.
For the thirty new Huffaaz and Haafidhoot, the presentation of certificates marked more than the completion of an academic programme. It represented the beginning of a lifelong responsibility to preserve the Holy Qur’an, uphold its teachings and endeavour to translate its guidance into practice.
The 2026 graduation therefore stands as another significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Nigeria to promote Qur’anic education and nurture a generation of young men and women who are not only able to memorise the Holy Qur’an but are also encouraged to live according to its teachings.
